Background
I have been very fortunate to have always had a river close at hand. I grew up living in a water mill over a chalk stream in Norfolk where I learnt to fish for trout and sea trout from the back door, catching my first trout at three. I spent my first week fishing in Scotland at the age of 8 eventually catching my first salmon on the fly at 10. Since then I have spent at least a month a year for the last 34 plus years in pursuit of trout, sea trout and salmon fishing all over Scotland and the UK. For the past 18 years I have lived in Scotland, with my wife Clare our two boys Harry and Alfie. Both boys have caught their first salmon, Alfie at the age of 5 and Harry at 10.
Over the last 14 years I have guided and hosted all over Scotland and fished some amazing places. I am proud to be a guide/instructor for the Cancer and Pieces Trust days based at the Northern Fishing School. The Northern Fishing School based a Swinton in North Yorkshire is were I learnt to instruct and I still work for them.

My eldest son Harry has started to help me out in the Borders and is proving an observant teacher.
